Prospective clients have a lot of questions before entering the studio. We hope to answer those questions on this page. More questions and answers will be added in the future.
Unfortunately, you can’t currently set up a session online, but you can get things rolling by giving us a call or shooting us an email. It will help a lot if you have a few dates in mind already in case the studio is booked for the time you want to record.
We’ll need to know the following information to best figure out how to get things done for you:
The best format to have the music in are WAV files. WAV files are a higher quality than MP3s. Convert your audio CDs into WAV files (you can use a program like iTunes) and bring them in on a data CD. Portable hard drives or flash drives aren’t the best option to bring your files on because sometimes certain computers have a hard time recognizing the drives. You will save yourself money if you bring your tracks in as WAVs on a data CD and don’t have to pay us to do it for you.
While it’s okay, typically having people in who are not recording not only ends up costing the artist more money — it also worsens an artist’s musical performance. The artist should be able to focus on their performance without fear of what all the people in the other room are thinking. Friends who are not recording (or paying for the studio time) also tend to want to hang out in the control room, talk and ask the engineer studio questions, which only diverts attention away from the recording process. It’s always best to have the minimum number of people in that are needed to get a good performance out of the artist.
